BUSONI: WORKS FOR PIANO AND ORCHESTRA, INCLUDING A WORLD PREMIERE!
CD-1047(1)
A bouquet of relatively neglected works. Through the years, Busoni's compositional style underwent many changes; one can find elements of late Romanticism, Impressionism, and even the "matter-of-factness" characteristic of twentieth-century music. These works exemplify a number of his styles. The soloist on these pieces, Carlo Grante, has been called by Fanfare "a pianistic superman...and certainly an artist one is avid to become more acquainted with."
"Grante plays them well, and I Pomeriggi Musicali under maestro Zuccarini offer him sturdy support."
--Rob Cowan in Independent
"Carlo Grante is an inspired and individualistic soloist."
--Michael Dervan in the Irish Times
